Summer Essay Boot Camps for Class of 2022
Click here to sign up for our June dates now!
Why? Now more than ever, the best way to connect with college admissions decision-makers is through your writing. Our June camps focus on your Personal Statement, a key component of the Common Application. Additionally, we'll discuss how to craft thoughtful answers to often-asked questions like "Why this college?" "What do you plan to study and why?" and "Tell us about one of your activities."
What is it? We offer our boot camps in two sessions. Essay A is an introduction to college application essay writing, including a discussion of the prompts, brainstorming strategies, and learning the techniques to make your story sing. Essay B is designed to teach you editing skills, and help you turn your rough draft into a compelling, pursuasive essay that you'll be proud to submit.
Location: Essay A sessions will be taught live, in our classroom at 5248 West Overland Road in Boise. Covid precautions will apply, and class sizes will be smaller to accomodate this. If you can't meet in person in June, please indicate that when you sign up, and we'll set up a Zoom group for those students.
Essay B: Students who also sign up for Essay B will have a two hour 1:1 session with one of our advisors, scheduled once you have a rough draft written. This can be either live or via Zoom, as appropriate.
Cost: If you are on a package plan with one of our advisors, these camps are included in your package. A la carte prices: Camp A is $150; both A and B is $275. As with all Step Ahead Idaho services, these camps are offered on a sliding scale. Just let us know when you sign up that you need to discuss a scholarship.
When: We're offering three dates in June; choose one: Tuesday, June 8, 9 AM-noon (FULL!!) Thursday, June 10, 1-4 PM (FULL!!) Friday, June 11, 1-4 PM (seats still available)
